Care/Support Advisory Group Member (Cruse Bereavement)
Location Causeway area

Regional Advisory Group Member to attend quarterly meetings in Belfast and be available for occasional phone consultation with the project team. General membership lasts one year.

Objectives of Beyond Words

  • Older people will have increased access to support during the life transition of bereavement including stroke survivors, carers and older people living in sheltered housing
  • Older people will have fuller connected lives and increased skills and wellbeing through volunteering to support other older people
  • Older People will be involved in the management and delivery of the project which will reduce isolation and exclusion
  • Older people living in sheltered housing, stroke survivors, carers and local communities will have increased confidence in their capacity to support older bereaved people

Aim and Remit of Advisory Group:

  • To assist the Beyond Words project team in the development and delivery of the project by:
  • Providing advice and guidance and making recommendations to the project team
  • Cruse Regional Committee representation
  • Stroke Association Northern Ireland Reference Group representation

Advisory Group Time Commitment: 

  • Quarterly meetings, beginning in February 2013
  • Availability for occasional phone consultation with the project team
  • Generally membership of the group will last for one year

Proposed Membership of Advisory Group:

(at least 10 members) Up to six service users who have had experience of either Stroke or Cruse services preferably from each county Up to four members from sheltered housing background Up to four people preferably over 60 who have an interest in the services of Stroke or Cruse One external agency rep as agreed by the group
