Wish Family Representative (Make A Wish)
Location Throughout Northern Ireland
Description Summary We’re looking to increase the number of wish children and wish family members who sign up to be a volunteer. Why we need you Regardless of how passionately we talk about wishes, and no matter how much feedback we share with our external community, no-one can explain what a wish is like better than someone who has experienced one. What will I be doing? Responding to requests that specifically require a wish family's input. These can include: attending balls as VIP guests, speaking to corporate partners during our partnership pitch process, collecting cheques on behalf of Make-A-Wish, fronting campaigns, meeting major donors (wealthy people who donate large sums of money to Make-A-Wish). What skills and attributes do I need? To have been the recipient of a wish or to be a direct family member of a wish recipient (wish child, wish parent, wish sibling). To be over 18 years of age. To be willing to share your story, including information about the person who received the wish, i.e. what their wish was, who they are, what it meant to you and them, what condition they were diagnosed with. How much time do I need to commit? These requests are relatively infrequent so we would encourage you to engage in other volunteer activities if possible. What support will I be given? Each volunteer is assigned a dedicated Volunteer Manager who will be able to support you through your volunteer journey. They are always at the end of the phone or email and can send you lots of materials to help you promote us in your local area. Where will I be based? Most requests will be for your local area, although some requests may involve travelling further afield. In this instance appropriate expenses (and accommodation if required) would be provided
