Why we need you Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes throughout the UK and we would love to increase the awareness that we have in your local area. Make-A-Wish fundraising groups will inspire others through organising and hosting their own fundraising events, and engaging local supporters in raising funds for Make-A-Wish. What will I be doing? As a group member your role will be to to increase awareness and fundraising groups in your local area. As a team we would ideally like you to fulfil a number of objectives: 1. Focus on the skills of the group and what you like doing and go from there. 2. Organise one charity street collection per year. This could be a day outside a supermarket collecting or, if you have enough volunteers, covering a whole city or borough – it’s up to you. We’ve put together a ‘How To’ guide for collections with all you need to know about putting a collection day together. 3. Hold a Make-A-Wish stall at local Fairs or open days. We do not have merchandise to sell, but if you can think of a fun fundraising stand like a teddy tombola or lucky dip to attract people to your stall, this would be great and would help us raise awareness of Make-A-Wish in your local area. 4. Help promote local fundraising activity and campaigns in the local area. 5. Represent the charity at local events and cheque presentations as requested. 6. Keep the Fundraising Team updated with any new talks that are generated through the project’s activity. 7. Approach local businesses that may be able to hold a collecting tin, display a poster, hold a small fundraising event for Make-A-Wish. Responsibilities of Group Member 1. How much time do I need to commit? As much time as you are able to give! We would like someone who is able to commit to this role for a minimum of one year, although ideally we are looking for people who can commit long-term to the group. The amount of time spent with the group will depend greatly on the number of people you recruit, and how the workload is shared out. What support will I be given? 1. There will be a leader of each group responsible for supporting the team. 2. Regular team meetings will be held or updates on events via Wishnet (Volunteer Intranet). 3. You will be working as a team and will receive support from all group members. 4. A representative from Make-A-Wish will meet with the group as requested up to three times a year. 5. You will be kept up to date via your Group Leader with the latest Make-A-Wish news and information. Where will I be based? You will be based in your local area.
