Adventure Leader (Make A Wish)
Location Throughout Northern Ireland
Description Summary This is your chance to make a difference leading a team on an epic adventure along the Great Wall of China in aid of Make-A-Wish. We are looking for self-starters with an entrepreneurial spirit who can make an impact on their campus. This voluntary position is perfect for those who want to develop essential skills for their future, want to see the world, make a difference to Make-A-Wish and lead a team on a grand adventure! Being an Adventure Leader • Promote the Great Wall of China on campus to make students aware of the chance to take part in an incredible adventure for Make-A-Wish. • Build your team; convince interested students and friends to register on your team and join you in the adventure. • Inspire your team; support the team in their fundraising efforts as individuals and as a group, and with their training to get them ready for the adventure. • Lead on the Adventure you will be the key link between your team and the adventure guides. What skills do I need? • Connected; your social network goes beyond your flatmates and you’re a known quantity on campus! • Resourceful; you might not know all the answers, but you know where to go and who you need to ask for help. • Outgoing; striking up a conversation does not strike fear in you and you’re able to speak to a group of people you might not have met before. • Career focussed; the party has to end sometime and having an eye on developing your skills and a strong CV for your future career when you graduate is important to you. • A leader; instead of following someone else’s lead you’re leading the way and inspiring others to follow you. What support will I be given? • Make-A-Wish workshop at Make-A-Wish HQ – you will find out how the organisation works as well as getting some great fundraising tips to equip you for your new role. • Training; each Adventure Leader attends Student Adventures' Seriously Wicked Adventure Training (SWAT) School to develop your professional skills, product knowledge on the Great Wall of China and information on Make-A-Wish. • You’ll have support from one of the team at Make-A-Wish and Student Adventures who you will report into, and they’ll be there to help you every step of the way so you achieve your best results. What’s in it for me? • Reduced fundraising target • You receive a development award from the respected Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), which will look great on your CV • Invitations to Student Adventures' key events, The Network and The Awards • An amazing experience abroad - you'll make good friends along the way and raise loads of money for Make-A-Wish • Future opportunities • You will have access to our online volunteer community, Wishnet
