Volunteer Dementia Support Group Assistant

Age Concern Causeway is a local, independent charity delivering services to older people in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area for over 40 years!. Our services include a Dementia Support Group, an Advocacy and Information service, Befriending service, Active Age programme and our Nearly New shop. All funds raised by Age Concern Causeway go directly to supporting older people in the local area.  

Role Description:

We are looking to expand our much-valued team of volunteers in the Dementia Support Group.  The Support Group is a vital service giving respite to carers and providing social interaction for people with dementia.  Anyone who has ever cared for someone with dementia knows how important social interaction is and equally how important it is to get a break.

We currently have a number of positions on our Support Group on various days during the week. You’ll be able to discuss a suitable day and time with Fergal.

Full training, support and ongoing help will be provided by us


Main duties:

         Assist our Mental Health & Wellbeing Worker deliver activities such as quizzes, bingo, bowls.

         Assist our facilitators in delivering music workshops, singing, arts & crafts, hand massage etc.

         Help set up and clear away after activities

         Accompany and support clients on outings.

         Encourage engagement and interaction with clients

         Assist clients on/off minibus transport.
