Garden Centre Assistant (Greenlight Gateway)
Location Ballycastle

Greenlight's Social Enterprise core aim is: To provide real and meaningful work and employment experiences to enable people with a learning disability to enhance and develop their self confidence, skills and talents through new opportunities, responsibilities, and training for work and life, in a creative team and community environment. The primary aim of human services is to promote individual rights, human dignity and create opportunities for integrated social and economic inclusion. Greenlight Gateway is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, owned by its members, including adults with learning disabilities.

Our Space 2 Grow project is a horticultural & garden project aimed at providing bespoke training and support for young people to gain work based employment skills.

Role Description:

 A number of volunteering opportunities are available throughout the growing season. they include:

  1. Looking after plants in the garden centre, nursery & allotment
  2. Growing a range of seasonal flowers, herbs & vegetables
  3. Serving & advising customers
  4. Helping to support our trainees (who are working towards an accredited qualification in Horticulture)

Skills Required:

No specific skills or requirements are required but a passion for plants & gardening, good customer service and the desire to work alongside & assist the trainees would be a plus.


Garden Centre Opening Times: March-September 10am - 4pm

Days/Hours Required: Flexible - to suit the Volunteers

Age: 16+
