Why we need you: As a retail assistant, you can help to ensure our customers receive the best possible service and enjoy our shop and what it has to offer. Join the gang and help to make our shop a huge success on the main street. Our volunteer team If you'd like to work as a volunteer in our shop, we'd love to hear from you. The role is very varied - there’s always plenty to do - from sorting, steaming and pricing donated items, to serving customers, putting together window displays and keeping the shop looking fresh and tidy. We are always looking for friendly, reliable team members to keep the shop running smoothly. This depends on everyone working the hours they have committed to. No formal qualifications are necessary, but a good level of numeracy will help.

What we're really looking for is enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, lots of energy and an outgoing personality. Everyone is welcome to apply!

What will you be doing? • Working as a team to help maximise sales for our charity • Talking to customers & making them feel welcome to browse around our shop • Advising & helping customers to buy! • Operating the till (it's simple to use & training will be given) • Sorting & preparing stock donations ready for the shop floor.

What skills do you need? • Willingness to work as a team and have some fun! • Trustworthy, polite, helpful and friendly • A warm smile! • We also need people with additional skills such as: • Creative skills - to help with displays & window dressing • Basic numeracy - to help with the till

How this can benefit you?  The satisfaction of knowing you are enabling our members to get valuable work experience and develop new skills, it also help us generate funds to deliver key services to our members.  Learning new skills and enhance your CV.  The enjoyment of meeting new people and being part of a team.  Help make decisions to help improve and make changes.  Staff training.  Annual outings.  Lunch and travel expenses can be reimbursed in line with CAN,s policy.

How much time will you need to commit? Ideally we would like you to help on a set shift(s) each week - this way our Manager can plan the team so that we haven't got 5 volunteers on one day and none the next! Our shop is open Monday – Saturday (10am – 4pm), shifts are 10am – 1pm and 1pm – 4pm. Many of our volunteers help out for one or two 3-hour shifts a week (either morning or afternoon).
