Gardener (Alzheimer's Society)
Location Coleraine

Volunteer Gardeners will be assisting with the gardening project undertaken by the Brook Gardening Group in Coleraine who meet every Tuesday from 2-4.30pm.

Activities include:

  • Tending the garden- bushes, plants, flowers weeding, pruning, digging, planting, watering,
  • Brushing/clearing pathways.
  • Cutting grass lawns.
  • Disposing of cuttings.
  • Using all gardening equipment and safety equipment as directed.
  • Paying close attention to health and safety responsibilities at all times
  • Reporting equipment defects so repairs can be carried out.
  • Offering guidance and supervision in the maintenance of the garden and the purchase of equipment , plants and seeds.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • This role may be suitable for you if you have good working knowledge of caring for a garden and or allotment.
  • If you have a good working knowledge of tending to plants and vegetables.
  • If you enjoy being outdoors and have the fitness and mobility required.
  • If you know about or are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on people.
  • If you are prepared to undergo induction into the role and attend necessary training to help you in your role.
