Coffee and Chat Volunteer (Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland)
Location Throughout Northern Ireland

Coffee and Chat groups are being set up all across the UK. These give people living with epilepsy the chance to meet each other in ordinary venues like cafes, tea rooms, coffee shops etc. Coffee and Chat volunteers help build a brighter future for people living with epilepsy.

 If you are interested in setting up a group in your city/town in Northern Ireland then here is your opportunity.

 A Coffee and Chat Volunteer supports the effective running of a coffee and chat group and provides a link between the people attending the coffee and chat group and Epilepsy Action.

 What's involved?

  • Be a contact person for the group and Epilepsy Action.
  • Ensure a welcoming environment.
  • Use the travelling kit to make attendees aware of available information.
  • Minimum age is 18 years old.

 What skills and experience do I need?

  • Friendly, welcoming manner.
  • Willingness to attend coffee and chat groups on a regular basis
  • Open to new ideas and initiatives to make the group an interesting place for people to attend.
  • Positive attitude to people with long term health needs
  • Ability to enable others to become confident.

What support and training will I receive?

  • Support from Local Services Manager.
  • We run a brief, informal training session.
  • Availability- attend the coffee and chat meetings, phone or email contact with the local services manager monthly, volunteer for at least a year with us, but this is negotiable.
