National Trust-Carrick A Rede

Membership and Visitor Welcome Assistant (Reception)

The National Trust was founded in 1895 by three people who saw the importance of our nation’s heritage and open spaces and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy. More than 120 years later, these values are still at the heart of everything we do.

We look after special places throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland for ever, for everyone.

Role Description:

Roll out the Red Carpet!

We need to give a warm welcome, as well as any important information visitors will need to get the most out of their day. Be one of the first people our visitors will meet. As a Volunteer Welcome and Membership Assistant you’ll have the important task of ensuring everyone feels welcome. Reception volunteers are multi-tasking superstars who can brighten up even the rainiest day.

  • Making everyone feel welcome and helping them get the best out of their visit by answering questions and showing them what is available at Carrick A Rede and other National Trust properties
  • Scanning membership cards and taking payments for tickets
  • Helping to recruit new National Trust members by talking enthusiastically about the National Trust
  • Keeping in touch with the wider team, so you know what’s happening each day
  • Getting to know the processes for enrolling new members, like direct debit or card payments, and setting up subscriptions
  • Getting to know health and safety and evacuation procedures
  • There might occasionally be some other activities that are of interest to you, that we could use your help with
  • Becoming familiar with and then following the National Trust’s Values and Behaviours

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Someone who loves meeting new people-there’ll be plenty every day
  • Passionate about Carrick A Rede and the Trust as a whole
  • Cheerful-even when the place is a little bit hectic
  • Organised and good with paperwork
  • Available at least once a month

By getting involved, you could:

  • Meet people from all over the world and make their visit memorable
  • Build on and/or utilise your customer service skills
  • The opportunity to make a real difference in the first impression of Carrick A Rede
  • Use your smile and communication skills to make people feel at home
  • Help us meet our membership targets, so we can continue doing great work
  • Join an enthusiastic and varied team and make some new friends
  • See National Trust properties from a whole new perspective

Additional:

  • We’ll help you get  to know Carrick A Rede, how you can help and how you will work with the rest of the team- with induction and training
  • We’ll cover agreed costs of your travel between home and Carrick A Rede
