Campaigns Volunteer (Parkinson's UK)

Causeway Coast & Glens

We're the Parkinson's charity that drives better care, treatments and quality of life. Because we're here, no one has to face Parkinson's alone.

Role Description:

We want to ensure that no matter where people affected by Parkinson's live they receive the support and treatment they need.

Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Too many find it impossible to get the excellent quality care they need. Or they don't get the best service from the welfare, health and social system because it simply doesn't understand Parkinson's.

We need volunteers to change that. We're building a team of volunteers who can work in their local area to address the needs of people affected by Parkinson's. We'll provide you with training on speaking persuasively to politicians and decision makers, and you'll work with other volunteer campaigners to share ideas and experiences. Together as a team we'll push decision makers to push for better services and together we can make things  better for people affected by Parkinson's.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

We don't expect you to be an expert in campaigning or have met your MP before. We'll provide training on how to campaign and grow relationships with decision makers.

You will have:

  • A passion to improve your local area for people with Parkinson's
  • Great listening and communication skills-able to explain complex information simply
  • Ability to  work independently
  • Great organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to travel locally (travel costs will be reimbursed in line with our expenses policy)
