Home -Start Causeway is an independent local charity under the auspices of Home-Start UK. It is governed by a board of trustees and has a team of 2 staff and over 30 family support volunteers. Home- Start Causeway is a volunteer organisation which provides home visiting and group support to families with at least one child under 5 years old, who are experiencing difficulties such as isolation, disability, illness or multiple births. Volunteers are individually matched with a specific family and provide practical and emotional support for a few hours each week for as long as required.
Role Description:
To attend trustee meetings and play an active part in meetings and deliberations. As a member of the board of trustees: to hold Home-Start Causeway in trust for current and future beneficiaries; to provide good governance, leadership and direction for Home-Start Causeway within the ethos and values of Home-Start; to ensure that the scheme complies with all legal and regulatory requirements; to ensure financial stability and accountability, and to ensure the scheme fulfils its responsibilities as a good employer and an effective manager and supervisor of staff and volunteers. To use own skills, knowledge and experience to help trustees reach sound decisions.

Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
Abiding by Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity,objectivity,accountability,openness,honesty and leadership
Additional:
Days/Times Required: Approximately 6-8 hours a month, including trustee meeting once every 6 weeks for approximately 2-3 hours. (currently Tuesday mornings).
Location: Meetings held in Coleraine
Induction process and ongoing safeguarding training is provided.
