Volunteer Business Mentor (Sported)

Throughout Northern Ireland

Sported is a leading Sport for Development charity, that seeks to build the capacity of grassroots community groups who transform the lives of disadvantaged young people through sport/physical activity.

Membership is free for groups using sport for social change in their local communities, and currently there are 230 member groups across Northern Ireland. Through an expert staff team and Volunteer Mentors, Sported provide free advice, training and mentoring to improve the capacity and sustainability of clubs and ensure they’re fit for the future.

Role Description:

You don’t have to be ‘sporty’ to Volunteer with Sported!

The club leaders who run our member groups are an incredible group of passionate and dedicated people, do some amazing work in their communities; however they sometimes lack the business skills, knowledge and experience to run a sustainable organisation. This is where our amazing team of volunteer mentors come in.

Our volunteer mentors work directly with our member groups to help them overcome these challenges, learn new business skills and ways of working, and become equipped for the future by helping them to understand what they need in place to run a sustainable organisation.

Our mentors are carefully matched with a Sported member group according to their professional expertise, availability and location. The mentor will then work directly with the club leader(s), offering their professional advice and consultancy to help them overcome their respective business challenge/need, learn new skills and develop a strategy to build their capacity and become sustainable for the future. For example, a mentor may support a member group develop a new Strategic Plan, or to update their funding strategy or business plans.
