IT Virtual and Telephone Support Volunteer (Age NI)

What is the overall purpose of the volunteer role?

Volunteers provide virtual and telephone IT support to older people and getting their phones,

tablets and/or laptops up and running.

What will you be doing?

  • You will volunteer on an ad-hoc basis helping older people with any IT queries
  • You will be advised in advance of the date and time
  • Assist with service user IT queries – could be setting up a new phone, adding on apps, how to use Zoom etc.
  • You could meet the older person (if virtual is unsuccessful) to support them with their IT
  • queries
  • Aim to reduce loneliness and isolation by providing IT knowledge so they can keep in touch with their families and friends virtually

  • Ability to adhere to GDPR procedures/maintain confidentiality


The role is very flexible and will be based on service user needs.


You will connect with your service user by telephone, virtually or in-person depending on the

need of the service user.
