Communication Support (Stroke Association)


What will I be doing? �Supporting stroke survivors whose communication has been affected by their stroke in order to build confidence and promote independence within a group setting. �Assist group members in undertaking therapy activities under the direct supervision of a Speech & Language Therapist. What skills and experience do I need? �You will have good communication and listening skills. �You will be patient and have a flexible approach. �You will be friendly and sociable. �You are willing to learn and develop skills to support and facilitate communication. �You are willing to take direction from staff. �You are willing to try new things and able to adapt to the needs of the service user. What skills and experience will I gain? �The opportunity to work alongside a Health Professional. �An ability to communicate using a range of different methods. �An awareness and understanding of disability. �An insight into rehabilitation after stroke. �An understanding of stroke and its effects. When do you need me? �Wednesdays between 1.30pm - 3.30pm Any age restrictions? �Over 18 years of age.
