Peer Buddy (Best Buddies)

Best Buddies aims to match young people with learning disabilities with their non-disabled peers through fun, social activity and experiences.

All young people meet as a group one a month to take part in activities which have been chosen by the group e.g. teambuilding, movie nights, bowling, go-karting, airsoft, discos etc.

After taking part in group activities some young people will be matched with a peer (with a learning disability).

Once matched, the pair undertake to make contact with each other one a week via phone, text, social media etc and will meet twice a month for an activity that they both enjoy e.g. shopping, coffee, cinema, sports etc (one of these meets can be a group activity).

No previous experience with people with learning disability is required and the only requirement is a willingness to commit to the volunteer opportunity and have the desire to meet new people and have FUN!

Days/times required- Various (1 group activity per month – approx. 2-3hours and your one to one meeting 1hour per week)
