Keeping in Touch Co-Ordinator

We're the Parkinson's charity that drives better care, treatments and quality of life. Because we're here, no one has to face Parkinson's alone.

Would you like to make a real difference to the lives of people living with Parkinson's by helping them stay connected  to Parkinson's UK? Ballymena Branch are currently participating in a trial Keeping in Touch activity which enables a person who can no longer get to their local group and activities to enjoy a regular visit or a telephone call from a volunteer.

 Desirable skills and experience:

  • Awareness of the needs of the person with Parkinson's at all times
  • A keen interest and knowledge of Parkinson's and the issues of later life
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • A clear speaking voice is essential to being understood as some of the people we support have a low level hearing loss
  • Ability to recognise the boundaries of the volunteering role and what should and should not be done with that role
  • Ability to work independently but know when to seek advice or report concerns
  • Ability to report and evaluate on the project and be available for the pilot's duration approximately up to 6 months initially


  • Location- from home with occasional travel around Ballymena area
  • Time- up to 5-6 hours per week
  • Volunteer induction and role specific training provided
  • Travel expenses paid
