The IM HAPPY project
(IMproving Hopes, Aspirations, Prospects and Potential in the Youth) seeks to
promote achievement in students aged 9 and over in the Neighbourhood Renewal
(NR) areas of Coleraine. The team currently teaches free ICT courses in the
following regions of Coleraine: Westbann, Ballysally and Millburn. We currently
work in four local primary schools, three secondary schools and three community
centres and are seeking coaches to assist us in our primary school sessions.
Purpose of the job:
To support the IM HAPPY
staff with the delivery of workshops in Scratch, Minecraft and Lego to students
in participating primary schools (Killowen, St. Johns, Millburn & Ballysally).
Supporting and teaching
different groups of primary school children with the aim to enhance their
learning. Packing and setting up of equipment.
Commitment/Hours: 4 hours
per session 1 time a week (Wednesday).
What will you gain from volunteering:
Experience in working with students aged 8-11 years. This will help to boost
your time management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
You will also learn how to create projects in Scratch, Minecraft and Lego. You
will also receive a certificate of completion for each module.
Requirements: Completion of
three modules. This will include two coaching modules.
