Time: 2:30pm – 4:00pm (1 day per week)
About the Dementia Café
Our Dementia Café is a warm, welcoming space where people living with dementia and their carers can relax, chat, and enjoy gentle activities together. It’s a friendly weekly gathering that helps reduce isolation, build connection, and offer meaningful support to local families.
Role Purpose
We’re looking for a kind, patient, and reliable volunteer to help create a positive, inclusive atmosphere for everyone who attends.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome guests as they arrive and help them feel at ease
- Serve tea, coffee, and light refreshments
- Support simple activities such as crafts, games, or conversation prompts
- Chat with participants and offer companionship
- Help maintain a calm, respectful, and friendly environment
- Assist staff with light set?up and tidy?up as needed
Skills & Qualities
No previous experience is required, just:
- Empathy and patience
- A friendly, approachable manner
- Willingness to support people living with dementia
- Reliability and good communication
- Respect for confidentiality and personal dignity
