Friends of Arthritis Action Group

The Friends of Arthritis Action Group are seeking enthusiastic and committed volunteers to join our committee as Chairperson, Secretary, or Treasurer. These roles are vital to supporting our work with people living with arthritis and helping us continue to make a positive difference in our community.
A minimum commitment of 4 hours per month is required. Full training and ongoing support will be provided for every role.
Chairperson
Purpose: To lead the group, guide its strategic direction, and ensure it operates effectively and inclusively.
Key responsibilities:
  • Oversee the management and development of the group
  • Chair committee meetings and support constructive discussion
  • Act as spokesperson and represent the group at relevant events or meetings
  • Work collaboratively with committee members to ensure good governance
Secretary
Purpose: To ensure the smooth running of the group’s administration and communication.
Key responsibilities:
  • Manage the group’s correspondence
  • Prepare agendas and take accurate minutes at committee meetings
  • Maintain records and support the organisation of meetings and activities
 Treasurer
Purpose: To oversee the group’s finances and ensure financial transparency.
Key responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping
  • Prepare simple financial reports for the committee
  • Produce annual accounts in line with group requirements
All volunteers will receive:
  • Full training tailored to their role
  • Ongoing support from the committee and wider organisation
  • Opportunities to develop new skills and contribute to meaningful community work
