Ambassador - Role Description
Position: Ambassador
Organisation: Mae Murray Foundation
Responsible to: Board of Directors – for safe-guarding, risk, incident and outcome reporting
Operations Manager / Volunteer Co-ordinator – for day to day running
Location: Events will be in different locations in N.Ireland
Hours Required: As and when required. This role is flexible. We have several events per month. As events are planned, we email dates, times and locations out to our ‘bank’ of volunteers. You are required to report whether you they are available for upcoming dates.
Aim: The aim of the ambassador role is to lead by example. Our ambassadors are young people who respect other young people and who value everyone as equal, regardless of perceived physical or learning ability. By taking part together, having fun and learning about one another, we hope to create a more modern society- a generation who see ‘ability’ not disability, friendship not sympathy, positivity not negativity. Eventually we would like to see younger generations grow up with positive attitudes, learning from example our ambassadors.
Training: We will provide you with an induction / training session prior to taking part in any of our events as well as further opportunities for optional training, for those wishing to enhance their skill set such as first aid and safeguarding training.
Main roles may include: (dependent on the events)
Help with event set up
Take part in activities, alongside members
Be encouraging and upbeat
Encourage members to take part
Attend suitable training
Essential Criteria· Age 16 - 24
· Access to own transport / public transport
· Keenness to build strong relationships with and participants and team
· Positive demeanour and be able to recognise others to be of equal and inseparable value, regardless of physical or learning ability
· Work well as part of a team
· Willingness to help others
· Confident initiating conversation
Ability to focus on activity/event without social media distraction
